CONTENTS: NATIONAL CONVENTION OF UE TRADE UNION ENDORCES FREEDOM MANIFESTO

Comrades, Brothers and Sisters:

Section 4 of the Freedom Manifesto is titled: "Strategic Working Class Unity includes the leadership of the Black working class." Trade unions are the largest concentration of workers in an organization so it is a strategic necessity to develop rank and file union members to move these organization into the popular battlefronts being waged by workers and peoples of all oppressed communities.

At the 75th National Convention of the UE trade union local 150 led by militant Black trade union leaders, men and women, led a battle to adopt a resolution against racism - see attached.  There was a floor fight but progressive forces won the day.  The meeting started when about 25% of the Black members sat or took a knee during the national anthem, and they were joined by many others as well. This was a new moment and the workers were standing tall. This is the first national trade union to adopt the Freedom Manifesto - more to come!

On UE:

·       http://www.ueinternational.org/

The attached is a model resolution for other trade unions to consider, at the national-regional-and local levels.  It extends beyond trade unions to every form of organization - school boards, city councils, Black student organizations, and community organizations of all kinds.

We call on every freedom loving person to study the Freedom Manifesto and prepare for a higher level of national coordination to our struggle.

CONTENTS: RIGHT WING FORCED TO CANCEL RALLY IN SAN FRANCISCO

The white supremacist Organization known as the Patriot Prayer Organization based in Portland Oregon, canceled it's rally for Saturday, August 26 in San Francisco! The rally was to have taken place at Chrissy Field, part of the national Park service.

The International longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) local 10 in San Francisco, adopted a resolution calling for a march to stop racist and fascist intimidation in San Francisco. It invited all unions,anti-racist and-fascist organizations, to join them in defending unions, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ, Women and all oppressed people.

ILWU local 10 has a long and glorious history in the struggle for economic and social justice for the working class and people of color. It has specifically come to the defense of the black community including its own members, that have been victims of attacks by the Ku Klux Klan and neo Nazi's! These attacks occurred in Contra Costa County And Oroville California in the early 1980s.

Local 10 members have provided armed security for search victims and has taken solidarity action at the point of production as was the case when black women were under attack in Oroville California in 1982. On that occasion, 5000 anti-racist and labor organizations descended upon that city to confront local authorities, the Ku Klux Klan and the neo-Nazis that these attacks must cease and desist immediately! They did and arrests were made!

The patriot prayer group cited safety concerns as the reason for relinquishing it's permit for the rally.

The call by local 10 and it's history of taking on the Klan, neo Nazis and rank-and-file solidarity actions at the point of production played a major role in the cancellation of the rally.

This was certainly a victory for the anti-racist anti-fascist forces! The photograph of local 10 members after Dispatch on Saturday, captures the spirit of that victory!

Clarence Thomas past Secretary Treasurer ILWU 10 (retired)

TOOLS FOR THE RESISTANCE

·       The plan? Our proposal is that the next step is a National Assembly of Black liberation forces. We work for local and statewide groups to form Black liberation assemblies to plan and engaged in coordinated education and actions that can mobilize thousands of Black people and allies around the pressing issues. In addition to building unity to defend against racist shock troops and the repression of the state, Black liberation assemblies begin to lay the foundation, help to develop the mass consciousness, make the connections and develop the resources for the holding of a National Assembly for Black liberation. United as a national Black liberation movement, we can meet the enemy and win. Local assemblies can unite forces at the local level Get in touch and get involved. We know we can win, but it takes unity, moving as a mighty force. Call, email, or visit us online

IMPORTANT ORGANIZATIONS OF THE BLACK LIBERATION MOVEMENT: PART 1

We are a diverse set of organization located all over the country.  Yes there are differences, but our agreements and unity far exceed any fundamental differences we have at this stage of the struggle.  The rich and the military have taken over the country and directly have begun vicious attacks against all of us.  Who can argue that now is the time to remain disunited?  Who will argue for unity

THE STRONG SONGS OF THE FRUIT OF LABOR

When the people sing they conjure up the spirit power needed for sustaining the resistance.

"The Fruit of Labor Singing Ensemble, their songs and music was born out of the struggle of organizing African American workers in the “Black Belt” region of North Carolina and the South. More than twenty two workers, at various times, have participated in this dynamic cultural workers organization. Recruited from workplace and community struggles, they have captured in music oppressed peoples’ and the working class’ history of community and workplace struggles." http://fruitoflabor.org/

KEY LESSONS FROM US HISTORY

WHAT DOES OUR MOVEMENT SAY ABOUT THE LIBERATION OF BLACK WOMEN

There is considerable unity in what many movement organizations are saying, but of course there are some differences, mainly about emphasis.  (See the attached document) Therefore we are all challenged to find ways to unite and coordinate our resistance.  We are more powerful when we pull together as we did during the 1960's in the Black Power conferences, in the 1970's in the African Liberation Support Committee, and in the 1990's in the Black Radical Congress.  Sisters, we need your leadership!

One of the most important Black liberation organizations of the 20th century was the Black Panther Party.  Some of these brave comrades gave their lives for the struggle, and some remain locked up in prison even today.  We learn from them as we prepare for the future!

WHAT'S NEXT AFTER SPONTANEOUS MASS PROTESTS

We know we have to fight back against every attack.  We know we have to build multiple battlefronts to resist.  And we have been doing this.  But we need more, we need to look beyond to the next stage of struggle.  This attached paper lays out a path forward.  See Three Waves of Struggle - attached.

Continuing to meet, discuss and debate, the NJ Black Agenda Project has produced the "The NJ Black Agenda Abstract--Draft 2," here attached.  We have begun meeting around the Agenda with gubernatorial candidates: John Wiszniewski, Ray Leszniak,  and Ray Murphy.  Meeting with Jim Johnson, the one Afro-American candidate is to come.  On May Day, after rallying with an immigrant -led coalition, we will march to a candidates' forum , where, in addition to distributing the coalition's immigrant-centered demands, we will distribute the Agenda, to forum attendees to consolidate it's constituency and to build for a People's Assembly.  Comments, criticisms, additions etc. to the Agenda, by Bulletin readers are welcomed.

REPORTS FROM THE BATTLEFRONTS #2

There is fight back in every community, sometimes a few people and sometimes a mighty wave of resistance.  The day to day fight is how we march forward and change history, so it is important to document and sum up every struggle.  We are never defeated if we continue to learn from our experience.  We call on all militant cadre in the Black liberation struggle to begin summing up the movements in their local areas and submit reports to this weekly Bulletin.  Our second set of reports is attached with summations from Boston, North Carolina, and East Cleveland.  SEE ATTACHED

IT IS IMPORTANT TO STUDY POLITICAL ECONOMY

Every society depends on its capacity to feed, clothe, and house its population.  For most it means people being able to get good stable jobs with enough income to support decent family life.  This is exactly what the US is not able to do, and that's why Black liberation activists need to study political economy

REPORTS FROM THE BATTLEFRONTS #1

A fundamental aspect of the struggle is that all politics are based on local motion, people fighting real battles in the objective conditions they face.  This is the day to day reality of fighting on all battlefronts.  A national movement takes place when local people in local areas come to know each other and work in coordination making many small battles into one BIG battle.  We are beginning to welcome reports from local cadre of the movement, from all organizations and parties, from all battlefronts.  We begin with reports from Newark NJ and Rocky Mount NC.  SEE ATTACHED

Since the death of Mao China has embraced capitalism and is facing a new wave of class struggle inside itself.  But under Mao there was great affinity of the Chinese revolution with the Black liberation movement.  This is important history to study.

HOW TO USE THE WEEKLY BULLETIN?

The main question is why you get the bulletin and how you participate in the Black liberation movement.  Some people get it, skim over it and maybe say "I'll get back to some of it later" but seldom do.  Some check out the cultural aspects, especially your people who are getting turned on for the first time.  But if you are SERIOUS and want to be an even better cadre for the struggle then you will organize a disciplined approach and set aside at least 2-3 hours a week to study the material. We believe the bulletin is more important for you than CNN!

WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH INCREASING SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE BULLETIN

If you find the Bulletin useful then at least one of your friends will as well.  Our movement depends on you to help build the Bulletin into a tool of power and that means increasing the number of people who get it each week.  SEND IN ONE NAME AND EMAIL FOR A BULLETIN SUBSCRIPTION.  We need you to help, and it will take only 2 minutes, so why not do this so we can get stronger.  In the age of Trump can progressive people afford to be passive?  NO!  We count on each of us to build the movement.

UPDATE ON TRUMP AND BLACK PEOPLE

It is dangerous to confuse the difference between an angel and a devil, and that is the challenge we have today.  Trump is a liar, a racist, a greedy capitalist who makes his money on the hustle.  He will not last for four years and we have to prepare to help bring him down.

BLACK POLITICAL PRISONERS ARE A CRITICAL BATTLEFRONT

At every stage of our struggle the capitalist state captures and imprisons key militants of our struggle.  They must never be forgotten.  And we must always know the truth of what Ho Chi Minh said: "When the prison doors are opened, the real dragon will fly out."

THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT BLACK-WHITE ECONOMIC DIFFERENCES

While it is clear that the capitalist system exploits all of its people except the very few, it should also be clear that Black people are exploited more than any other nationality based working class people. It is imperative that we make sure that this is one of the fundamental targets for change, no exploitation and no Black-white difference!

THE ELDERS AMONG US HAVE WISDOM AND MUST BE PROTECTED

Each generation is a precious asset for the total people.  The elders are the living vehicles of memory and as such are indispensable for sharing their experience to help the young ones.  At the same time the seniors are vulnerable to economic, social and health challenges.  This is a major battle from for Black liberation - to protect the elders.

ONE OF OUR BATTLEFRONTS IS THE ENVIRONMENT

Human beings are part of nature but the contradiction is between when we have lived in harmony with its laws and when humans have tried to dominate everything.  Domination leads to ruination, environmental disaster.  In the US most of the toxic areas of crisis hit Black, Brown, and poor communities.  In fact in this period of climate change and toxic crises we face a life-death struggle.  Time to make this a major battlefront for the Black Liberation Movement.

NEW PAPER SETS THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK - MUST READ!

We are now marching in our tens of thousands.  It’s time to think about taking our struggle to the next level.

http://alkalimat.org/fmb/three-waves.pdf

WHO IS THE BLACK WORKING CLASS?

This is  a critical question.  One general answer points to the vast majority of Black people.  The enslavement of Africans was mainly about getting a free labor supply, forcing Black people to work without any wages.  In fact ever since the days of slavery the goal has been to keep Black people working with only the bare minimum of pay.  Today things are changing as machines are replacing human beings as the new workforce.  This is very dangerous because if the capitalist system doesn't need labor then things get very dangerous for Black people. Forms of genocide get on the agenda, whether fast (police murders every day) or slow (bad food, little or no health care) the game is liquidation of a labor supply the capitalist system no longer needs.  Of course the people who still have jobs have to fight to keep them, increase wages and benefits, but the machines are being employed more and more everyday.  So, things are changing and we have to understand the new conditions of the Black working class.

MORE ON HOW CAN WE BUILD THE MOVEMENT WE NEED?

Many ideas need to be shared for us to begin to develop the general path forward.  Here is a discussion paper that can contribute to this process.  It focuses on how the revolutionary struggle can develop out of the dialectical interaction of cadre development within and in relationship to the mass spontaneous movement.  This links the fight for reform to the fight for revolution.  The concept is three waves of struggle.  Please read it and share any comments or criticisms that you have.  Take a minute – it’s a serious paper.  http://alkalimat.org/fmb/three-waves.pdf

Also, please send us any papers you think that can also add to our discussion.

WHY ARE WE CALLING FOR A NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR BLACK LIBERATION?

Tradition is important, and for Black political cultural a critical move has always been pulling together in a national meeting to let the main ideological and political lines get max exposure in search of unity for a common program of action.  This has been true for the last 200 years.  This is why we can call for a national assembly and believe it is in the best interest of advancing the Black Liberation Movement.  Our people are in motion and collaboration requires that we gather at this time.

THE DRAFT MANIFESTO REQUIRES RESEARCH AND DEEP STUDY

We got the following feedback from a militant activist in a study group focusing on the Draft manifesto: "I agree with the information in the introduction.  I just needed to research more information in the last paragraph regarding Black liberation theology, Pan-Africanism, Nationalism, Feminism, and Socialism. I think more information on each of these five areas in the Manifesto will further strengthen the cause for which we are uniting. "

We will have a five part series to help deepen your study on each:

WHY IS SOCIALISM BETTER THAN CAPITALISM?

Capitalism exploits workers and a few people get rich - that's what we got now.  Socialism is a system that spreads the wealth so that the masses of people get a fair share for a good quality of life.

First of all most Black people already know this! http://www.pewresearch.org/daily-number/little-change-in-publics-response-to-capitalism-socialism/

Here is what Black people have been saying:

·       WEB DuBois: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKXglS90qn4

WE NEED TO START THINKING ABOUT SOLUTIONS

Even as we start understanding the need to go past capitalism to socialism we still have to think of the fundamental changes in how to organize the economy - general principles have to be translated into policy, meaning programs that actually change how the society operates

The first step is to study to get clear.  Here is a video about what the League of Revolutionary Black Workers did in terms of study. https://vimeo.com/202099595

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT TRUMP AS A CAPITALIST?

Well for one we don't have the full story as he is hiding his tax forms from the public, and we know he is a committed liar.  And for the most part his capitalism doesn't create value like making steel or cars or food, so whatever it is, it is mainly a hustle.  But check this out:

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/19/inside-trumps-holdings-a-web-of-potential-conflicts.html

And here is what we know about his straight out lies!

IS THIS A RETURN TO A POLICY OF SEGREGATION?

Check this new bill being put forward under the future leadership of the Trump Negro Ben Carson:

"Notwithstanding  any  other  provision  of  law,  no  Federal  funds may  be  used  to  design,  build,  maintain,  utilize,  or provide access to a Federal database of geospatial information  on  community racial  disparities  or  disparities  in access to affordable housing."

WHO SPEAKS FOR THE BLACK LIBERATION MOVEMENT?

The Black liberation Movement has many organizations and many leaders to be found in every community throughout history.  Most have never been given publicity, sometimes even in the local community where they were based.  It is important that we begin to change this and give props to those who have given so much for all of us.

Check this list to begin the process.  Please send in more names.

SOS: CALL FOR BLACK WOMEN TO UNITE AROUND THE MANIFESTO

SISTERS!  Hey y'all, we need to gather together and talk about how we can get some Sister Power up in this movement, yeah, on the real.  We need to blast though all forms of male supremacy including how that evil even gets into us and controls us from the inside.  We need to  organize sisters to be a force in this movement.  We must claim our position as equals at all levels including leadership.

We are planning a conference call in the near future for sisters who support the Draft Manifesto to discuss it from our perspective and to figure out how to get more sisters on the list to get the weekly bulletins and prepare for the national assembly.

SOURCES FOR NEWS ABOUT CURRENT EVENTS

It is important to have a way of avoiding the mind control right wing slant of the mainstream news of CNN, ABC, NBC, and of course FOX.  The following sources are all useful in helping to develop clear progressive thinking on the major issues of the day, including from international sources to hear what the world is thinking

TECHNOLOGY AND BLACK LIBERATION

This is an important topic for us as we live in an era of the revolutionary transformation of technology based on the computer and the Internet.  The robots are here and jobs are disappearing rapidly.

This is what Marx has to say: "At a certain stage of development, the material productive forces of society come into conflict with the existing relations of production or—this merely expresses the same thing in legal terms—with the property relations within the framework of which they have operated hitherto. From forms of development of the productive forces these relations turn into their fetters.  Then begins an era of social revolution."

We need to study this very seriously:

WHAT SHOULD WE DO WITH THE WEEKLY BULLETIN?

The first point is obvious, read the whole thing, only 5-10 minutes max.  But then go back several times to check out the links, and listen to the music.  Then think about who you want to share the bulletin with, and in fact make up a list of people who you share it with every week, always asking them if they want their own subscription.  Each one get one and keep building the network until we get a critical mass.

Our goal is to get everyone we know who is interested and active in some form of fight back and resistance to be getting the weekly bulletin. Why not?  Are we too weak to do this - NO!  We can do this, and it begins with you, so sisters and brothers, time to get to work.

BLACK PEOPLE AND THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION OF 1917 (100th Anniversary Year)

The leader of the communist party of the USSR was V I Lenin.

Here is what Lenin Said about African Americans (1917):

"In the United States, the Negroes (and also the Mulattos and Indians) account for only 11.1 per cent. They should be classed as an oppressed nation, for the equality won in the Civil War of 1861–65 and guaranteed by the Constitution of the republic was in many respects increasingly curtailed in the chief Negro areas (the South) in   connection with the transition from the progressive, pre-monopoly capitalism of 1860–70 to the reactionary, monopoly capitalism (imperialism) of the new era, which in America was especially sharply etched out by the Spanish-American imperialist war of 1898 (i.e., a war between two robbers over the division of the booty)."

Here is what Marcus Garvey said about Lenin (1924):

"One of Russia's greatest men, one of the world's greatest characters, and probably the greatest man in the world between 1917 and 1924, when he breathed his last and took his flight from this world...We as Negroes mourn for Lenin because Russia promised great hope not only for Negroes but to the weaker people of the world."

What can we say in 2017?

This is a great question. Each of us are organizers who use this bulletin to connect up all of our comrades therefore we all need to answer this question.  There are several reasons:

1.     to promote the Draft Manifesto for Black Liberation

2.     to help organize for the National Assembly

3.     to link together local activists all over the country

4.     to provide political education

5.     to share positive examples of cultural expression

Please start sending in reports of the local struggles, how you are using the Draft Manifesto, and progress in building for the National Assembly. (250 word limit)

POEM BY JAYNE CORTEZ

And if we don’t fight
If we don’t resist
If we don’t organize and unify and
Get the power to control our own lives
Then we will wear
The exaggerated look of submission
The bizarre look of suicide
The dehumanized look of fear
And the decomposed look of repression
Forever and ever and ever
And there it is.

BLACK PEOPLE AND THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION OF 1917

The first major socialist revolution created the USSR in 1917 led by V. I. Lenin and the Communist Party.  During this centennial year of 2017 it is important to reflect on the importance of this great transformation in world history, to find what we can learn for our own struggle.  This is the first of many reports.

The best history of the Russian revolution is the HISTORY OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE SOVIET UNION (BOLSHEVIKS)  This text has been published in 66 languages with over 50 million copies https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/stalin/works/1939/x01/

We are especially interested in the Black experience in this process. To begin our study, here are the stories of some the Black people who lived through the experience:

USING MEDIA TO ADVANCE THE DRAFT FREEDOM MANIFESTO

This is the first in a series of quick flicks produced by our Triangle Area, NC https://youtu.be/JXfEey3f6G4

We are learning from our study and practice in N.C., that it will be necessary to engage Black working people and youth in building our various local area "BLUC study & action groups" nationally if we are to grow a deep and broad working class lead Call for a National Assembly for Black Liberation !

We are truly growing this Manifesto/National Black Assembly campaign nationally. Consistently, we are engaging and nurturing a new wave of engaged people for Black Liberation.

Step by step ... brick by brick ... we must share a historical/political context that shapes the vision, need and a broader plan for a national gathering of all our developing isolated struggles and many developing united front efforts in this War On Black America

FROM A VETERAN WORKER TO THE MOVEMENT "SINCE YOU CAME INTO MY LIFE"

Not so long ago you came into my life
Gave me many reasons why there is so much misery and strife.
I believed I lived in a world of democracy,
But low and behold it’s just hypocrisy.

You gave me books to read,
Which become tools to help me lead
Wow I’ve got this yearning
I must keep on learning.

I’ve been to near and far places
Seen new things and met many friendly faces.
Traveled by air and land
Just to reach out and lend a helping hand.

From your love and caring I have overcome some fears
And one time at a gathering the powerful message from the speaker touched and I shed some tears.

I am surrounded by sisters and brothers black and white
And with some I have become very tight.
We talk, laugh and share our pains
We rejoice over the victories and gains.
From your encouragement and caring I’ve become the head not the tail
Thanks for all the hugs, kisses and e-mail.

UNITY REQUIRES A STUDY OF BLACK WOMEN AND BLACK LIBERATION

See the attached listing of what Black liberation organizations are saying about Black women and Black liberation. If you know of what any additional organizations are saying please send that information in. It is imperative that we reach out broadly to sisters in all walks of life, especially sisters fighting and playing leading roles in working class struggles. Gender equality is not only a matter of what we believe and say but has to be anchored in what we do. Let’s build movement leadership with a strong representation of Black women!

POETRY FROM THE MOVEMENT

(We are preparing an ebook anthology so please send in your work)

We matter because:
400 years of oppression wasn't enough.
We glow in the sun and never fail to get back up.
We are both over achievers and underdogs.
Our unity shatters through your ignorance.
We define every law of normal, simple, and of science.
No bullet ever kept us from rising.
No bigotry ever left us feeling num.
No whip could penetrate through our souls.
The skin we bare was meant to inspire not anger or confuse.
Being Black is like being able to fly, we have no limits.
We don't just matter...........

#7 12/12/2016

Greetings Brothers and Sisters, comrades all:

We greet you with this our #7 weekly bulletin to help us build a national campaign for Black unity. We have renamed this the Manifesto to make our identity clear to all. Here are the tools you can use to organize people to join this campaign:

·       What is the Black Liberation Unity Committee? http://www.blunblog.org/2016/11/black-liberation-unity-committee-call.html

·       What is the Draft Freedom Manifesto? https://www.scribd.com/document/321034935/Draft-Black-Liberation-Manifesto-V-3-0

PLEASE SEND IN EMAILS OF PEOPLE WHO SHOULD GET THE WEEKLY BULLETINS

Black Liberation Unity on Key Questions:

We have a powerful and diverse movement. Read what different organizations are saying about Black women. We can unite. Each week we will present what many of us are saying in our different organizational forms on key questions. Most of us agree, so let’s start talking to each other and find a way to unite. We face an extreme right wing set of forces that are uniting behind their newly elected president. We are calling for a national assembly of Black liberation forces to meet this challenge. Now is the time!

WHAT IS OUR MOVEMENT SAYING ABOUT BLACK WOMEN? There is way more agreement than disagreement!

Draft Freedom Manifesto

Women. Patriarchy arose before capitalism. But capitalism and its imperialist expansion for control of labor markets, raw materials, and land systematized male supremacy in new ways. It did the same with racism. This meant European white male dominance over women, other peoples and cultures. The Black Liberation movement must overcome and correct the internalized male chauvinism in our history and advance the leadership of women at all levels of the Black Freedom struggle, in our communities, churches, unions, and promote equality in our homes. The struggle against patriarchy, male supremacy, and sexism is key to rebuilding the black freedom struggle and the unity of our people as a whole. Although women lead this struggle, everyone must take it up and support it. Gender equality! Mobilize women, and facilitate the leadership of women on all battle fronts!

Black Lives Matter

We are committed to building a Black women affirming space free from sexism, misogyny, and maleâ€centeredness.

Black Workers for Justice

We stand against the exploitation of all workers. For workers control of wealth from their labor, and fighting democratic unions of rank and file workers. Against racism, white supremacy, sexism, male supremacy. For democratic rights and equality of all races, nationalities, and sexes.

Black is Back Coalition 19 Points

Black Women. With this National Black Political Agenda for Self-Determination, the entire black or African nation declares our commitment to facilitate the elevation of African women to full, equal partnership in our struggle to create a new world of freedom and socialist democracy for a united black community and a world shorn forever of bosses and workers and slaves and masters and where African women will share the power to guarantee that African women are adequately empowered as equal architects of our new world.

Black Youth Project 100

BYP100 works through a Black queer feminist lens --meaning that we are radically inclusive and strive to move those of us who are marginalized (e.g. Black women, girls and LGBTQ folks) to the center. Thus, the Agenda is meant for young people who want to approach civil rights, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, and women’s rights work differently. Further, the Agenda is not meant to advance politics of respectability -- we want ALL Black people to be able to live in their dignity.

The Movement for Black Lives

For Black girls, the U.S.’s failure to address gender-based violence, which they experience at greater levels than any other group, is paramount to the criminalization they experience. In fact, sexual abuse is one of the primary predictors of girls’ entry into the juvenile justice system, with girls often being routed to the system specifically because of their victimization. For instance, girls who are victims of sex trafficking are often arrested on prostitution charges. The punitive nature of this system is ill-equipped to support young girls through the violence and trauma they’ve experienced, which further subjects them to sexual victimization and a lifelong path of criminalization and abuse.

Left Roots

Feminist and pro-queer politics and practice are central to Left Roots. We believe that liberation from hetero-patriarchy must be central to any revolutionary Left strategy. Women and trans folks’ place is in the struggle and we prioritize their leadership in social movements.

Malcolm X Grassroots Movement [New Afrikan Womens Caucus (NAWC)]

A committee within MXGM which opposes any form of oppression that limits girls and women from becoming self-determining individuals and reaching their fullest potential. As a manifestation of our sixth principle of unity (ending sexist oppression), NAWC recognizes that cultural, economic, political and social institutions, practices and beliefs limit the human worth of our girls and women. We NAWC will actively struggle for the liberation of the New Afrikan Nation—By Any Means Necessary!

Organization of Afro-American Unity

The Organization of Afro-American Unity will take those private steps that are necessary to insure the survival of the Afro-American people in the face of racist aggression and the defense of our women and children

Dream Defenders

We believe that our liberation necessitates the destruction of the political and economic systems of Capitalism and Imperialism as well as Patriarchy.

People Organized for Progress

To work for the total elimination of racism and sexism.

Organization for Black Struggle

We will fight for gender equality, for women’s liberation, and for women’s rights to be recognized as human rights in all areas of personal, social, economic and political life.

All African People’s Revolutionary Party

The All-African People’s Revolutionary Party understands that the liberation of African people cannot come to reality without the effective and genuine liberation of African Women. The A-APRP also understands that African Women cannot fight a liberation struggle separate from the broader liberation struggle of African People. The two go hand in hand. The manifestation of this understanding in practical terms gave birth to the All-African Women’s Revolutionary Union in 1980.

The AAWRU is responsible for insuring that all vestiges of sexism are rooted out of our party (and the larger society), that women and men are educated about the revolutionary role of women in the African Revolution and to insure that the voice, interests and energies of African women are completely integrated into every aspect of our work to build the AAPRP and a free African Nation. All women who join the AAPRP are automatically members of the AAWRU.

Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign

We are assisting our human rights partners in a global campaign to bring awareness and reduce gender inequalities along with 40 member states of the United Nations.

Coalition of Black Trade Unionists

The CBTU National Women's Committee conducts conferences and workshops that focus on the needs of African American women in the trade union movement. The committee's major event is sponsoring the National Women's Conference, which is held annually in conjunction with CBTU's national convention. The CBTU Women's Conference is an uplifting, healing and empowering experience. What began as one workshop in 1982 has now grown to an all-day women's conference, attended by more than 1,000 participants - women and men, black and white, from all backgrounds. The popularity of the women's conference has made it an integral part of the national CBTU convention. The conference features a health fair for women, a book fair, diverse workshops, dynamic speakers and down-to-earth sisterhood. Major topics addressed include education, politics, leadership development, youth and the criminal justice system, and health - particularly the importance of raising the awareness of black women about serious diseases and the importance of regular check-ups.

Peoples Organization for Progress calls for a new Black Liberation Holiday for December 18th

The Peoples' Organization for Progress in New Jersey begins this December 18th, what is planned to be an annual tradition: to celebrate the December 18, 1865 adoption of the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which legally abolished slavery (except as punishment for crime), highlighting the monumental achievement of the Civil War; while leaving the basis for a contemporary battlefront of the Black Freedom Struggle: the struggle against mass incarceration of Black People, as a principle form of national oppression.

In beginning this observance, POP hopes other African American forces and allies will take take it up, creating a tradition that links the past; the present; and future endeavors for freedom and unites Black People in the U.S. with other descendants of Africa and freedom loving peoples, who celebrate various "Freedom Days"; "Emancipation Days," throughout the diaspora. POP maintains such efforts are particularly important in the advent of Trump to Presidential power and developing fascism in this country; and is instrumental to reconstituting the Black Liberation Movement and to marshaling our forces of resistance to this stage of capitalist exploitation and oppression.

POP will rally outdoors at the Lincoln Statue in downtown Newark (`2PNM at Springfield Ave. and W. Market St.) N.J.'s largest city with a rich history of rebellion, resistance; and freedom striving.

Remember the Past to inform the Present' while we shape the Future! Together We Shall Win!!!

HIP HOP FOR JUSTICE youth are studying the Draft Manifesto in North Carolina

BLACK WORKERS FOR JUSTICE's Hip Hop For Justice youth held its regular HH4J cultural gathering which was a very exciting event two weeks ago with...social justice music, poetry, film and political discussion. They shared thoughts on the post election results, growing tide of racism & sexism and the urgent need for Black working people to be better organized beyond social and religious groups and churches. Young BWFJ members who put on these regularly scheduled HH4J events distributed the Manifesto for study and discussion. 10-11 participants stated that they wanted to join the follow up study group on the Draft Manifesto this past weekend.

Youth asked questions about.... how the Manifesto was anti-capitalist and how the lack of living wage quality jobs no longer existed for them because of corporate jobs going overseas and information technology/automation destroying employment opportunities in our community. They go to college, get an education, apply for good jobs and still find only low wage jobs with no health benefits, sick leave, etc. and are forced to be start small capitalists enterprises like cleaning services, lawn care, construction services, Uber drivers, etc.

They asked ....Don't we need capitalism to survive in our small business? If the Manifesto is Anti-capitalist , what is the alternative economic/social system we need as workers to survive? Why don't the Manifesto address this question ?

10 reasons why we need a manifesto for Black liberation

1.     Slogans are leading the movement and we have to go deeper

2.     A manifesto is a curriculum for study

3.     A manifesto links together diverse battlefronts into one mighty movement

4.     The Black Liberation Movement needs to have a working class perspective

5.     All US progressive forces need to know what we, the Black liberation movement, stands for

6.     All progressive people all over the world need to know what we, the BLM, stands for

7.     All our spokespersons of the BLM need to have a common orientation to the media

8.     The BLM needs a framework with which to evaluate performance of our leadership

9.     The manifesto is a recruiting tool for our movement

10. The manifesto is our theoretical foundation for unity (80-20)

POLITICAL EDUCATION: Here are three sets of videos to watch for our political education this week:

·       Saladin Muhammad on 10 Key Questions http://theblm.net/saladin/10-key-questions/

·       Jack Qiu on the global crisis of capitalism https://mediaspace.illinois.edu/media/Info+City+LecturesA+Jack+Linchuan+Qiu/1_dasolo3e and https://vimeo.com/17558439

THE CAMPAIGN NEEDS YOU! Again you will find the draft manifesto attached—send it out to your network and encourage them to read it. Why not? Don’t we need more conscious Black people in the struggle? Also you will find the documents to gather endorsements for the campaign to spread the manifesto and get support for a national assembly for Black Liberation. Try sending in endorsements from about five people and see if you can represent this campaign as an organizer. We count on you!

#1 11/1/2016

Welcome to the first Bulletin for Black Liberation. This will be a weekly Bulletin. We want to hear from you with any questions or comments you have as we build this campaign. The main request we have is that you spread the word throughout your networks as broadly as you can.

You are on this list as a supporter of the Draft Freedom Manifesto (attached) and the proposal to convene a national assembly to unite forces fighting for Black liberation and fundamental social change.

We are reaching out to you to build this campaign to achieve two immediate goals:

1.     Distribution and discussion of the draft freedom manifesto—we can send you printed copies

2.     Gather signatures and organizational endorsements (forms attached)

There have been good responses so far:

1.     The National Conference of Black lawyers included a discussion of the Manifesto in a plenary session at their recent national conference in Chicago

2.     A convening of human rights activists in the South will hold a discussion of the manifesto at their regional meeting in Mississippi

3.     On the international level there have been discussion of the manifesto in China and Cuba, while the Manifesto has been distributed to activists in at least 15 countries

4.     The Manifesto has been featured in the October issue of a political newsletter called “The Organizer”

In our Bulletin next week we will begin list the organizations that have endorsed this campaign.

The Manifesto reflects the actual work on the ground of fighting for Black liberation. It is important to be familiar with the emerging leadership of this struggle. Here are some individuals to study:

·       Clarence Thomas http://www.brothermalcolm.net/SOLDIERS/#Clarence_Thomas

·       Jaribu Hill http://www.brothermalcolm.net/SOLDIERS/#Jaribu_Hill

·       Marian Kramer http://www.brothermalcolm.net/SOLDIERS/#Marian_Kramer

·       Naeema Muhammad http://www.brothermalcolm.net/SOLDIERS/#Naeema_Muhammad

·       Malcolm Suber http://www.brothermalcolm.net/SOLDIERS/#Malcolm_Suber

We need to hear from you so holla back when you can!
